She brushed the soft strands of hair from his face and she wrapped her arms around his wounded body as she watched him closely to see if he'd pull away from her touch like he's done so many times before.
He didn't.
Instead he leaned closer to her, staring down upon her with those intense grey eyes, inspecting her just as she did him. She was reaching for him, calling out for him to reach her and be with her. And, although as painful as it was to do, he fell into her arm in a moment of vulnerability -
and he broke. . .
