"If you could save either him or me from a burning building, who would you choose?"

Meet Quinn. She's your normal pizza-eating, movie-watching, cat-loving high school girl with a few sharp edges here and there. Born to successful business-people, Quinn is a little-bit-spoiled, but with her parents all over the world, she knows not to take things for granted, and she knows how to take care of herself. A superstitious girl, Quinn knows not to mess with luck or Karma, and she's not afraid to stand up to anyone in her way of fate. 'Miss Independent,' is what the world calls her. She needs nobody but herself.

...Except when it comes to her best friend Jack. Anyone would deem them to be an unlikely pair: Star Athlete & Art Student, Wild Side & Superstitious. But inseparable since middle school, Jack is the only person who seems to have stuck around long enough to know the real Quinn. Sometimes she swears he knows her better than her own parents do.

So it could be seen as only natural for an attraction to start growing between the two. But when summer ends and Junior year starts, and the new boy in town sweeps Quinn off of her feet, she's completely oblivious to a jealous best friend. She soon finds herself stuck between a new love and an old love, and as tensions start to rise, walls begin to build, and secrets begin to whisper, Quinn learns that she can't have it all... if she doesn't want to lose everything.

Join Jack and Quinn on a turbulent year at Horizon High School, filled with untold secrets, stolen kisses, late night drives, broken traditions, and a sour game of spin-the-bottle.

"You ungrateful bitch. I keep a roof over your head, and this is the thanks I get?" "You could have killed her," I retort, trying to muster up confidence that I don't possess. "What if she goes to the cops, Dad? That bruise on her face is enough to get you arrested and charged with assault." "What? You mean when she tripped over the mess you made in the kitchen?" His smile is so wicked that it chills me to my core. "She ain't going to the cops. Hell, she'll probably be back here tomorrow." "You're a bastard," I whisper, tears filling my eyes. "No wonder Mom left! She probably couldn't bear to spend another second with-" I'm pushed to the floor. The Best Kind of Betrayal

35 parts Complete

It's the first day of June's senior year and everything is already going wrong. Her first boyfriend and supposedly love of her life dumps her for someone else, her heart is broken and feels like it won't ever heal again and her best friend makes her join the most unnecessary club on earth to help her find new friends she most definitely does not need. Still. New chances are for new beginnings, right? Instead of falling into a deep dark pit of self pity (however tempting that may sound), all of this betrayal ends up leading her to the best friends she's ever had and the most exciting school year of her life. Oh - and a whole new fake boyfriend, to get some revenge on that idiot who dumped her. And who knows. Maybe even more.
