Fifteen-year-old Peyton-Rose Harlingdale is dreading going back to school after summer vacation. Since the "Police Thing", Peyton is clearly hated by all her friends, and people she doesn't know hate her from a distance. Unable to take the pain of the hate, and refusing to talk to anyone about it, Peyton becomes really close with Henry, her younger next store neighbour. But after discovering a painful secret about Henry, the Police Thing and all of Peyton's old friends mean nothing to her, the only thing that matters now is Henry.
