First book in the 'Just' series.
Anne was a simple, innocent soul. She was beautiful with long golden wavy hair. She had deep, dark brown eyes which reflected the warmth of her soul. She had flawless skin with adorable freckles dotted along her nose.
She was honest and kind, kinder than anyone I have ever met. She was generous and perfect but she never once was horrible towards anyone, because she saw no flaws anywhere. All she saw was beauty.
Beauty in the majestic song of the birds. The crisp green of grass after the rain. Beauty in the facial expressions of people. Even the bareness of a gnarled tree smothered in a winters coat. Beauty in the world around her, which she reflected in her amazing paintings and drawings.
But she couldn't draw anymore. She couldn't share her passion with the world or her stories because she was just gone.

The story is set 6 months after Anne goes missing. The POV constantly swaps between the characters and their stories.

Anne is a couple months away from turning eighteen and is always left alone, since her mom and her mom's boyfriend are always gone on mostly business. She's used to it by now and mainly keeps to herself, ever since she was bullied too severe for a few years that caused her to go into a deep depression state to where she felt helpless. Eventually, her mother let her do home school. Her so called friends either moved away or for some unknown reason had abandoned her and joined the 'bully' squad and made her feel alone. She's never had a boyfriend and now that she had finished school, despite the deal she made with her mom, she feels she needs to leave the small town and get away from everybody. So she takes out every cent from her bank account and leaves on a bus to wherever it will take her to then once at the last stop, she'll decide what to do from there. Little does she know that before she gets a chance to even message her mother that she is alright, she unexpectedly gets caught in the middle of a dangerous encounter and gets hurt while trying to escape, causing her to blackout. Next morning when she wakes up, she finds out she's in the house of the same guy that was part of the fight. Fearful of her life, she soon realizes that she has no choice but to stay there at the house until his boss figures out what to do with her. Johnny's a 25 year old, fearful Mafia Boss who doesn't care who you are. If you get in his way, you will pay for it and if you cross him, that will be the last thing you ever do. I thought I had died. When I came to, I found myself in this strange place, disoriented and confused. I looked around and found another five pairs of eyes looking at me with the same emotion swirling in their gaze. Now, 15 years later, I train with these girls. Our makers take care of us, feed us, and make sure we are clean, healthy, and fit. Some of us never had that; that's probably why it took so long for us to realize we were being used.
