Ten years ago, the Kingdom of Hearts sent the first mysterious bright light out of it. It was seen across all the worlds before it came to rest inside five year old girl, Melanie. Ten years later, Melanie goes on a camping trip with her friends from school when they are interrupted by Heartless from Kingdom of Hearts to reclaim the power. King Mickey appears to save Melanie and the two are separated not before Melanie had the chance to activate the light in the form of a powerful magical light shield. Melanie wakes up on the beach of Destiny Islands where she meets the young heroes just as they are about to head out on a journey themselves.

The two decided to seek help from King Mickey, Donald and Goofy in order to know what that writing meant so they used a computer to digitize Jiminy's journal and Hikari's diary but soon both of them were full of bugs. King Mickey decided to create a Data-Sora and a Data-Hikari in order to get rid of the bugs and find out the mysterious message. Soon... all of them except for Queen Minnie, Chip and Dale got trapped in the Datascape and Data-Sora and Data-Hikari meets a figure in a black coat which turns out to be Data-Riku and goes face to face with Maleficent and Pete.
