Anna Barnes is a successful twenty-five year old interior designer. When she falls sick one day, she realizes that she has absolutely no one to call for help. Her personal life is quite empty and it has been for the past decade. She has been on her own for so long that she forgot what it feels like to be loved and cared for. When she is forced to give the nurse at the hospital a phone number for her non-existent emergency contact, Anna does so unconsciously.

Adam Atkins is a kind twenty-seven year old marriage and family therapist with a heart of gold. He is engaged to be married to the woman he believes to be the love of his life. When he receives a phone call from Sunny Presbyterian Hospital in the middle of the night about a stranger in need of his help, he finds himself obligated to be there for someone he does not know.

Will Adam be able to heal Anna's wounds and help her build her trust in others? How deeply will their friendship impact them? Can friendship turn into love?
