Samuel Lamont is a 26 year old scholar who comes to Millsville Manor as an apprentice to Lord Craven, the wealthy owner of a financial firm that he holds in the manor. Samuel hopes to do well enough during his year-long apprenticeship to secure a permanent position working for Lord Craven.
Julianne Masterson came to Millsville Manor when she was 10 years old after her parents died tragically in an earthquake in India. She is the niece of Lord Craven, who is her only living guardian. Julianne is now 25 and is now expected to have already married and start a family of her own. However she is not like other women her age. She does not wish to marry and wants to live freely. Staff members describe Julianne as having a wild and free spirit.
What happens when Samuel and Julianne meet? Will Samuel end up being the one to tame Julianne's wild spirit?
This story takes place in the early 1800s. (Author's note: If you've seen the 1990s movie "The Secret Garden", the manor looks a lot like that one as well as takes place during that time frame.)
