Is one person's life of more value than the world?

Elizabeth Park is a college drop-out and conspiracy theorist who lost her scholarship, a valuable internship, and her direction in life when she blew the whistle on her unethical boss. Confident that her scientific career is over, Elizabeth looks for work elsewhere while trying to come up with enough evidence to support her actions against her former employer, lauded scientist Petra Compton.

Until... she is approached by The Disease Institute, a government initiative founded to cure diseases before they turn into pandemics. Elizabeth is offered an internship that will bring back all her hopes in exchange for the months of research she spent on one topic: the possibility of a zombie apocalypse caused by medical experimentation.

The institute hopes to use Elizabeth's research along with the confession of one man to cure the disease. That man is an enigma, someone they only refer to as Zero, for he seems to have no name. Through her work, Elizabeth spends time with Zero, and discovers him to be more than just the first victim of a horrifically violent disease.

As secrets unwind themselves and fear mounts, desperate choices are presented that could change Elizabeth forever... and save or destroy the world.

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. A zombie invasion sweeps across a country, spreading slowly from city to city. While the people seek protection and answers from their president, he makes the least precise decision: to downplay its importance in the early stages. The fall of the last city to the new virus goes hand in hand with the fall of all hope... But hope will come from somewhere else. Rosie, a girl from the lower suburbs with a sad family history, crosses paths with Elliot, a man who grew up in the countryside. On their journey, they will meet other survivors, face new challenges together, and uncover something they were not ready to admit. Rosie was born and raised in the heart of the city, but she learned how unfair life can be at an early age, after her mother was widowed and later met a man who, over the years, revealed himself to be abusive and selfish. When the virus reached the country, Rosie was planning to study medicine at the state's most prestigious university. But when her stepfather found out, he ruined the opportunity, wanting her to stay at home where he could keep her under his control. The news began filling with reports of the virus, and everything seemed to trail off into ellipses. The president offered no solid answers about the situation, fueling people's anxiety. Not knowing what else to do, many fled the country, others emptied stores and locked themselves inside their homes, while not a small number stirred up riots and fights in the streets. By the time the president finally decided to take action, everyone knew it was already too late.
The Coffee Bean by Stracy2
25 parts Complete
Emmy Lorraine is living her life exactly the way she wants to - owning and running her quaint coffee shop, The Coffee Bean, and enjoying her solitary, peaceful adult life - no strings attached, and certainly no unwanted communication with her pushy, controlling parents. But a recent fling with a man she barely knows has left her in a predicament that she never could have predicted. Pregnant and single, Emmy has to face the biggest hurdle of her life, and when Ben McAllister suddenly comes back into the picture, she really doesn't know how to reconcile her fierce independent nature with her constant, inconvenient attraction to him. Add to the complicated mess the ghost that haunts her coffee shop, and Emmy's life really takes a turn for the confusing. The ghost seems to be trying to communicate with her, but at her failure to grasp its meaning, the haunting becomes more intense, forcing her to reconsider the future of The Coffee Bean - her livelihood. As her relationship with Ben progresses into something she'd never expected, Emmy fights her own natural instincts to back away, to get away from the confusion and chaos inside her heart. But as much as she'd like to think she can handle everything on her own, it's Ben's arms that she really wants to fall into at the end of each day. And as they begin to work together to solve The Coffee Bean's problems, to prepare for a child that neither of them expected to have, they find themselves pushed closer and closer together than either of them had imagined. With the unexpected arrival of Emmy's parents, whom she hasn't spoken to in nearly ten years, comes further complications - questions and anxieties that could break Emmy and Ben apart for good. But the ghost at The Coffee Bean isn't finished with them yet, and as they uncover the meaning of her haunting and communication, they learn more about their own relationship. Emmy might just realize that her heart really can open to Ben more than she'd ever wanted to believe.

In a world, where showing emotion is a dangerous weakness, love becomes the only beacon of hope. No one noticed exactly when people began to fall victim to the broken life of monotony, but by the time humanity realized that witnessing strong emotion triggered violence in the infected, it was too late. Evelyn Li is not a fan of risk. Confined to the safety of an underground bunker for the past two years, when Evie stumbles upon a radio broadcast hosted by a mysterious boy with a sharp tongue and an impressive record collection, she's inspired to embark on a mission fuelled by the belief that her family might still be out there (and definitely not because she's desperate to finally meet the boy whose voice has been her sole companion since the darkness descended). Jonathan Johnson is not an optimist and definitely not a romantic. He wasn't at all surprised when the world ended or even when the Soulless took over the streets. With the weight of rising tensions in the colonies, an absentee father, and heart-breaking tragedy resting on his shoulders, Jonathan would much rather escape into his record collection and secret radio broadcast than deal with the general bleakness of life in the apocalypse. As he is reluctantly roped into Evie's search for links to her past, Jonathan begins to wonder if he can ever truly escape his. Together, the unlikely pair must navigate the treacherous landscapes of both the unforgiving world around them and the complicated emotions within. Will their connection withstand the trials of a world consumed by darkness, or will it become just another casualty of the apocalypse?
