"There was a poison created to render any living creature powerless and intoxicated."

Set in a timeless era of vintage fashion and letters, Crescentia, the world of mages, is in disarray.

The jester, King Alexiel Wright, had gone missing, leaving his Queen Caitlin in a deep slumber. This prompted Prince Anthony to embark on a quest to find their father while his younger brother, Prince Ansel, shields their sleeping mother from danger.

With the jester king away in action, the other kings have elected Prince Isaiah Blaire to be King Alexiel's heir. Before sitting on the throne, he got a 'gift' from his father that requires his blood.

A week later, Clifford Grey, the son of Duke Fredrick Grey, dreamt about a sobbing lady with long dark hair and a man standing on the brink of a cliff watching over a burning town. When the sky unexpectedly protected him from a battle, he discovers the terrible truth about his identity.

Meanwhile, Crescentia's eight mage warriors are slowly being revived, with one of them fated to usurp the jester's crown. Fear returns as the fates of the future kings and other wizards get entangled in the events.

She screamed, barely audible over the roar of the wind, "Make me understand. You lied to me! You used me. You promised me your heart and the world, only to destroy mine. Everything I've ever known has been demolished, taken from me, and damn you, you will make me understand!" "Goodbye, my love." The princess shook her head, bare feet padding closer, like her will could hold the stone walls open, could keep him from leaving, could change everything. It was too late. And then he was gone. She would have to bear the storm, face the wrath of the Heavens, and carry the remains of her kingdom. Alone. As was the fate of all women. ........................................... For centuries, the continent, Solem, has been plagued by terrifying monsters, Shadeborns. To stave off further devastation, the kings of Verdentia and Frosthaven strike a precarious deal relying on a marital union between their children. Breathlessly handsome and painfully arrogant, the brothers arrive in Verdentia with more than a marriage proposal -- they bring desire, passion, and the promise of salvation. The Deveraux sisters, poised for political duty, soon find themselves entangled in more than just a royal arrangement. The smouldering intensity of the Graysnow brothers breed temptation, and the line between duty and passion blur as the sisters fall deeper into the princes' seductive allure. But behind the princes' charm and Frosthaven's sudden alliance lies a dangerous secret: Verdentia's most prized relic, the Chalice of Celestia, a powerful artifact that could change the fate of the entire continent. As love and lust overlap, betrayal looms, threatening to tear their kingdoms -- and their hearts -- apart. With a war brewing, the sisters must uncover the truth before it consumes them all. But in a world where power is everything, will their loyalty to each other be enough to save them? Or will it be the reason they all fall down?

Ice flooded my veins as the realization of who he was hit me. It must have been evident on my face because the man in front of me let out a dark laugh. "Oh dear, you didn't realize you were talking to a royal, did you darling?" he crooned. Not just any royal. Kesserian Cinis. The recently coronated king and ruler over the Ember Court. I forgot how to breathe, my mind whirring as it tried to figure out how I could have been so stupid as to let this happen. *************************************************** Wren Heatherfield is on the run. Having turned 18, she is now in danger of becoming selected for the Garner, a deadly game in which the six kings who rule over her continent take eighteen non-magical girls and make them fight for their lives. But as she tries to avoid the game by running away with her best friend and her sister, she consequently finds herself doomed to be a competitor in the 246th Garner. But the Garner isn't the only thing capable of killing her. In a castle surrounded by kings with dark powers and girls fighting for their lives, she may find that the politics of royalty can be just as deadly as their games. No one can be trusted in a palace full of monsters and, if Wren has any hopes of survival, she may have to become one herself.
