One day, a wind blew into the town of Millstone and didn't stop. Slowly people moved away. It was like the town was trying to clear itself out, as though it was preparing for something sinister.

When a strange man moves into town and purchases the old abandoned farmhouse on Clay Road, Harper suspects he might be up to something. As Harper and his best friend Jeremey investigate the man's activities, they end up discovering some frightening truths about their town, the newcomer, and the wind itself. But getting close to the truth comes with risks, and they soon find themselves in danger not only of the stranger on Clay Road, but also the dark forces within Millstone that have remained silent for too long.

In Parched Gardens: Book 1 by Sycamore_Shade

When Fin moves back to his quaint Northeastern hometown of Allbrook, he is met with both the nostalgia and coziness of the small town and several challenging circumstances. At times, Fin struggles with more mundane realities such as getting the courage to speak to the woman he keeps seeing at the grocery store as well as trying to unpack the many boxes in his new home that he can't quite bring himself to unpack. A town with no history. A girl with no name. An end with no beginning. My oldest memory of this place was blurry. It faded in and out of my dreams and subconscious. The details edges had been rubbed smooth long ago, but the feeling of complete and absolute terror had remained as distinguishable as the day it happened. fifteen or so years back... That fear has always kept me grounded to the forest that isolated me from the rest of the world. It kept me safe from whatever I had to run away from. Tricking me into thinking what was best for my survival, was to stay hidden. But when dangers from the outside seep into the safe haven I had created, all sense of security shatters. Suddenly the safety net is gone, and other people exist again... Some that had definitely thought I was dead. (as of 9/30/24 - Hello (: this is a disclaimer! I have been writing this book for like 6 years and it is not perfect at all. I am currently rewriting all the chapters and posting new ones every month so I can finish it.
