The Spring Girls is a modern-day retelling of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, telling the captivating story of four sisters desperately seeking the answer to the age-old question, what exactly does it mean to be society's version of a "woman"?

The Spring Girls-Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy-are a force of nature on the New Orleans military base where they live. As different as they are, with their father on tour in Iraq and their mother hiding something, their fears are very much the same. Struggling to build lives they can be proud of and that will lift them out of their humble station in life, one year will determine all that their futures can become.

The oldest, Meg, will be an officer's wife and enter military society like so many of the women she admires. If her passion-and her reputation-don't derail her.

Beth, the workhorse of the family, is afraid to leave the house, is afraid she'll never figure out who she really is.

Jo just wants out. Wishing she could skip to graduation, she dreams of a life in New York City and a career in journalism where she can impact the world. Nothing can stop her-not even love.

And Amy, the youngest, is watching all her sisters, learning from how they handle themselves. For better or worse.

With plenty of sass, romance, and drama, The Spring Girls revisits Louisa May Alcott's classic Little Women, and brings its themes of love, war, class, adolescence, and family into the language of the twenty-first century.

I am posting the first four chapters of my book The Girls of Charity here on Wattpad. The full book can be purchased online. I always make sure to disclose that even though I work long and hard hours on all my books that they are by no means perfect. There are mistakes from grammar and punctuations. The Girls of Charity is my first self-published book and when I wrote it, I didn't have a great program on my laptop to help me make corrections as best as I possibly could. However, this version, I am pretty sure, is the revised edition I had resubmitted last summer but however more-than-likely might have mistakes also. I apologize in advance if you feel you have wasted your time and or money on my works. Thanks

John Laurens is about as straight as a circle. But when the spunky new girl comes along and befriends him, will she be enough to turn a gay man straight? _ Hercules Mulligan always liked designing fashion, specifically woman's fashion (especially dresses). When a cute new foreign exchange student comes along and volunteers to be his model, he starts to realize that he thinks of this cute French girl as more than just a model....or a friend... _ James Madison is a quiet kid. He's smart, shy, and a huge bookworm. So you wouldn't expect him to get so close to the loud mouth, bratty, Virginian girl, right? Well, like they say, opposites attract. _ Peggy Schylur, like her friend John, is SUPER gay, and is proud of it. So you wouldn't expect her to fall hard for the new kid at school, now would you? After all, how on earth would a lesbian fall in love with a guy? 4 words: He's Sexy As Hell Plus, he's also really kind, especially to the spunky sister. *I don't mean to upset anyone with this book. I love gay ships (90% of my ships are gay ships), and that's apparent in my library. I kinda want to make this for the people who aren't comfortable with the gayness, but also want to enjoy the gay ships. Plus, it's something different! (I mostly got the inspiration from doodling a female Lafayette in art class, btw) Also; Markus = Maria Alexandra = Alexander Tammie = Thomas Marie = Lafayette (it's one of his names, so I decided to just make that her name. Also, for simplicity sake, her name is just gonna be Marie Josephine Lafayette, bc fuck typing all that out) #2 in Meggy

Will they stop bickering and worrying about boys, fashion and proms long enough to save the day? *Esther 4:4 Gifts: Baby in the corner Beth (19) has the ability to draw her heart's desires. She thinks it's only while using her big box of 64 crayons. She doesn't realize the power is in her mind's eye and not her writing implements. Jo (20) can teleport. Of course she doesn't always stick her landings. At first her landings are as messy as is her life. She's lost her mother, her family home, her faith and now thinks she may be losing her mind. Supercilious self-absorbed Amy (17) has the uncanny ability to get others to do what she wants. She says, ever so sweetly, "I'd prefer..." Dad always called it "wrapping others around her little finger syndrome." If she wanted she could ask a perfect stranger to hand over his car keys and he'd have to oblige. The oldest sister Meg (21) has dreams and visions about the world's near future. She's also very intuitive. Perhaps if she were better at seeing her own future maybe her personal life wouldn't be in shambles?
