Jack was a super soldier as a teen, thrown into battle during the "Great War' only to realize that he wasn't cut out to fight, despite the knowledge he had. As a result, his hero to even present day remains in his heart, the man who saved him when he wasn't strong enough; wasn't brave enough. Jack keeps that man's dog tags around his neck every day, and lives on in his memory, still obtaining his inhumane powers but refusing to use them ever again.
Until now. Veterans from the Great War are starting to disappear, even long after its end. Many disappear without warning, and suddenly Jack is worried himself that he's next, until he realizes that he might be the key to saving the veterans. Where he failed in the war, he strives to make up for it by pursuing the kidnapped and digging to find why they were disappearing. He recruits Mark, who's brother and father fought in the war, and finds himself a friend, a partner, and possibly more?
All the while, he discovers something much greater than he expected to find, and must race against time to save the same people the risked everything for him in a battle much greater than just the war.

After a traumatic incident, an 18 year old Mark decides that it'd be best for him to get away from the memories, and move halfway across America, in hope that he'll be able to start a new life for himself in California.
Within a few weeks of moving, Mark finds that everything is finally going his way for once, he has made lots of new friends at school, and virtually no enemies.
There's only one person who he doesn't know where he stands with, and that's Jack. To say Jack is misunderstood is an understatement, his trust issues have forced him to push any potential friends away, and Mark is no exception. But for some reason, Mark is determined to become Jack's friend, to find out who he really is.
If only he knew the consequences that would bring, the secrets it would unleash, and the drama it would cause.
