Julia Groves didn't have friends but she did have a best friend. Betty Ripsom was the only person Julia ever needed. Having been attached to the hip with the other girl since they were toddlers. To Julia, Betty was everything she ever needed and the girl was there whenever Julia needed. 

That was until Betty Ripsom disappeared. Betty had been Julia's voice of reason, her anchor. She made everything better, but now she was gone, Julia never realize how lonely she was.
 
If it wasn't for Richie Tozier and his group of friends, her summer could have been a lot worse. Not including the shape-shifting murderous clown, because that shit is in a category all on its own.
