LinLin is a school girl who lives with her older sister JunJun in a one-bedroomed flat. She is the most popular girl in school and therefore has lots of friends. She also has two best friends - Aika Mitsui and Kusumi Koharu. However, her new teacher Miss Beckworth forces her to sit with the ever so clever and snobby Kim Seokjin. Miss Beckworth also sets a history project on the Victorians. Although LinLin at first hates this project, she thinks of a Victorian girl named Lottie (Charlotte), who is just like her and writes a diary entry from Lottie's point of view. JunJun loses her job as the manageress at the local KFC, and picks up cleaning in a supermarket, cleaning houses, and looking after a young boy called Jungkook to earn money to pay for her flat and mortgage. JunJun takes shine to Jungkook's single father, Namjoon, much to LinLin's despair. Following a trip to Alton Towers, LinLin and Jungkook witness Namjoon and JunJun kissing on a ride. LinLin, upset by this, tells Jungkook that Namjoon doesn't want him anymore. Distressed, Jungkook runs away and LinLin thinks that it was her fault.
In the meantime, Lottie, the Victorian girl that LinLin had created, gets a job as a nursery maid - and looks after three very irritating children named Madison, Katherine and Freddy. Whilst at the park, Freddy is snatched from his pram and Lottie storms off. Lottie is upset and distressed at the loss of the little boy, mirroring LinLin's own feelings towards the disappearance of Jungkook.
