Her mother had died while giving birth to her younger sister, their father committing suicide four short years later. Mere vague memories of his sapphire eyes remain for Claire, though she remembers the pain in his eyes so clearly before he'd pulled the trigger and they turned to a gray the color of ash.
From then on, Adriana has taken their parents' roles, while continuing to hold her own. At the age of 28, though, Adriana's grief finally manages to catch up to her, and she begins to lose herself in the dark void of emotions. At the same time, without a best friend or sister to stand by her, Claire turns to drugs to replace the two.
Adriana, lost in her own world, doesn't realize what Claire's intentions or motives are, and takes the path that any misunderstanding parent would - taking the problem away rather than finding the true solution.
And, realizing that taking the problem away isn't the solution, she seeks for the correct path - the path that leads to the solution. But how is she supposed to do that when she can't even seem to find herself?
