Dee Yurieva only wishes to forget the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend and the misery he has left behind by transferring to a new school to start afresh. There she meets Shishi Dominguez, the volatile drummer of Pale As Dead, a rising band comprised of current and old students of their school. But he has one major problem: he is a lion trapped in a human body. Well, not literally, but you get the gist. He's rude, territorial, sarcastic, a snob, and a time bomb. When they get partnered on a music project, she discovers that there are a lot more than the bruises, blood, smoke, and alcohol that surround him. Because inside of him is a little boy who desperately grasps for chances to turn his life around. And she wants to save him.
But fate doesn't simply let it happen. For old habits are hard to kill and old romances are hard to ignore--especially so when the past has to be saved as well.
It's not an easy job to juggle between family, relationships, and school. But she will still carve out a place in this world even with her bare hands to keep her feet on the ground.
