This takes place right after The Last Jedi. Rey has not lost hope in bringing Kylo back, but she is disappointed and angry. She has another forcebond at the new base, Kylo tries to speak with her but she shuts him out. With the strong connection between them, Rey is somehow drawn back to Kylo and ends up in his arms. None of them know the agonizing faith left up beyond them, where blood will shed, lives will be lost, and a new leader will be in order..

Confronting Fear
"When I offer you my hand again, you'll take it." What if Kylo Ren had been right? What if Rey had taken Kylo Ren's hand when he offered it the second time, deciding her best chance at defeating Palpatine and saving the galaxy was with him? Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy. This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others. There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. Rey must help rebuild the Resistance on a desolate planet in the Outer Rim whilst Kylo, as newly inaugurated Supreme Leader of the First Order, desperately hunts her down and the remaining rebels. But fighting their conflicting feelings towards one another puts them in a compromising situation. Whilst the Galaxy remains under the imperial control of the First Order there can be no peace and light and dark go imbalanced.
