The four characters are special kids nurtured by a selected God from a selected deity, the way the gods choose to bring them up is up to them and them alone, pain, love, anger, the kids have to find themselves spiritually and mentally and physically etc, to be able to prove themselves that they are worth the gods and to prove to the gods that they are worthy teachers, a game but not a game, life and death, hope but despair, the kids from different backgrounds will have to come together to defeat a common enemy (a threat even bigger than the gods) they'll go through time to learn for experience is even a better teacher than the gods, and from there onwards they would protect the world and even the spiritual realm.
Humans believe, believe makes gods.
