Their hands found one another anyway and the silence between them, broken only by their breathing, was something deeper and more painful than she had ever experienced. But they stayed. She knew he had something else to say-so as he held her hand, as she let it be held, as she held his in return, as he let it happen-she waited.

Immediately following Episode VIII, this is my idea of what might happen between Kylo and Rey.

What if his own troops rise against Ben, and begin to attack the Resistance without his orders? What if Rey and Ben find themselves fighting the same enemy? The Force bond kept the other far away, but what will happen when they are forced together?All Rights Reserved

And then there is a certain group of meddling Force Ghosts determined to test them to their fullest. Meanwhile, Finn has a destiny of his own to fulfill chasing visions of his past across the galaxy. Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy. This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others. There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. His threat was open ended in my version. Meanwhile, Luke has run, afraid that his sister will blame her son's turning on his negligence. With the strain of the upcoming war and their son's rebellion, Han and Leia's marriage frays at the edges. The Resistance searches for the bits of maps that Luke is sending from his exile, and as they hunt them down, they realize they aren't the only ones looking. (Despite the title, this story follows the Resistance leaders and pilots more than Kylo/Ben himself, though there will be a few chapters about him) Time period: Ten years before The Force Awakens to about a week before, picking up where "Ben Solo" left off. This story (as a prequel) is mine, and so are the non-canon characters (except the ones people suggested, but I expanded on them, so technically the characters are mine), so please don't take them. I spend a lot of time on my characters, whether I kill them or keep them alive, so please don't take them.

She gripped his arms as they caged her, keeping her from escaping. "I'd be damned if I let you slip through my fingers again." ~*~Summary~*~ Set after the events of Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Rey is sent by General Organa on an important mission to infiltrate the First Order from within, feed helpful information to the General and bring Ben Solo home. In order for the mission to succeed, Rey has to do something she never imagined herself doing. Take the hand of her enemy and join him by his side. ****Please keep in mind this is my first fan fiction and you will encounter errors/mistakes and misspelling. Over the past year, Ben has changed considerably, becoming disillusioned by the First Order and implementing a plan to end the war with the Resistance as its victors. Now, ready to execute the last step of his plan, he has to confront Rey once again. Unfortunately, she has her own opinions about his lofty plan. In this story, it turns out Snoke wasn't lying and he really did create the connections between Kylo Ren and Rey in "The Last Jedi." (Note: This also means there was no Force connection between them on Crait since Snoke was dead by then.) So, there is no Force bond and there's no special link between the two of them. But...that doesn't mean they weren't profoundly affected by the experience. Excerpt: He knew the moment she noticed him, felt it like a stab to his core through the Force. He saw the fierce determination in her eyes and he tried to match it, but was certain he failed. All he could feel was sorrow. The tempo of his steps increased as he covered the ground toward her. He watched as she turned her body toward him, bringing her magnificent dual-bladed, bright white lightsaber to bear, her lips pulling back in a vicious sneer as she sought what she had yet to realize he was here to offer her willingly. Deflecting one last bolt and seeing her raise her weapon with the start of a battle cry intended to lend her extra strength, Ben thumbed his lightsaber off and dropped to his knees at her feet, his head bowed and his eyes closed. Do it, he thought desperately. End me. End my misery.
