EXCERPT: I sat in the corner and began rocking back and fourth, watching as she drink herself to death. She threw the bottle next to my head making me shut my eyes tight and mumble my famous line, "As long as I listen I won't get hit. As long as I fight back I won't die. And as long as no one walks near me they won't see the scars and my tears."

Life is full of disappointments, especially when you have no one by your side to protect you from it. The disappointments never ended for Evangeline Romanoff. Her beauty could have blinded people but how could she know she was beautiful if all her life she was told she was disgusting. No one was ever close enough to see what was under her hood. No one could see the bruises on her face and arms or the scars under her clothing. The longer she ignored people the more she thought everyone would leave her alone. That was until Grayson Snow came into the café with determination to find something about the mysterious girl under the hood.
They both seemed to have struggles along the way. Grayson struggled to keep Evangeline close and Evangeline struggled to keep Grayson away. Life still goes on, even when your tears are flowing down your face and the only thing you seen on your body in the mirror are scars.
