Her footsteps sounded off the walls of the school hall as she ran past me, leaving her scent lingering behind. The sharp clacks against the pavement somehow converyed a sort of sadness I couldn't quite describe. She wasn't used to all the attention the teenagers in the halls gave her, but it was barely the beginning of lunch. I followed her, needing to be close to her. Still something was making her skin crawl. She shuddered against the cold and picked up the pace, grateful she hurried to her car with me jogging close behind her. Fishing out her keys her fingers slipped and the keys made a loud clash falling to the floor. I ripped off my jacket and wrapped it tight around her, shielding her from the cold as her fragile body shuddered uncontrollably. Her face turned into my chest as she let out a sob, crying for the love she will lose, for the ache of her body and most of all, exhausted with the endless battle that this would end. All I could do was hold her and whisper sweet nothings into her soft hair, kissing the top of her head. This was a mistake, the most beautiful, tragic mistake of my life. Is Xavier and Lilli's love so strong they can defeat anything? Even death.
