"Promotion" voices a section of the unheard student population of contemporary India. Often, students are pressurized by their conservative families into becoming doctors and engineers against their choice. While some succeed in passing the difficult entrance examinations and get admitted to colleges around the country, many students end up in depression and in some cases, even commit suicide.
This story is of a young boy, Aahan, whose parents want to turn him into a doctor. To suit this, they force him into taking up science in Class XI. They make him study for long hours, eventually cutting him from the rest of the world and his much needed social life. As the story progresses, it highlights and describes the sad plight of a considerable section of young India, imprisoned within the perimeter of a syllabus that they do not choose by parents that they cannot convince.
