Tik-Tok of Oz is the eighth Land of Oz book written by L. Frank Baum, published on June 19, 1914. The book actually has little to do with Tik-Tok and is primarily the quest of the Shaggy Man (introduced in The Road to Oz) to rescue his brother and his resulting conflict with the Nome King.

The endpapers of the first edition held maps: one of Oz itself, and one of the continents on which Oz and its neighboring countries belonged. These were the first maps printed of Oz.Public Domain

The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West to earn his help. But their adventure won't end there. Soon after their return to Kansas, Dorothy and (Y/N) find themselves whisked back to Oz to save her friends and Glinda from the Jester - the younger brother of the Wicked Witch of the West. The Jester is using his late sister's broomstick as a magic wand and is destroying Oz one yellow brick at a time. With new companions, the two girls set out to rescue old friends and restore order. Six months after Topeka Press' twister, a ten year old Dorothy Gale is swept overboard during a storm and drops in the Land of Ev. There, she encounters the evil Queen Roquat, who has imprisoned companions and turned many inhabitants into ornaments. Dorothy teams up with Billina, a talking chicken, Tik-Tok, a mechanical man, and old friends like the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodsman to free the prisoners. Returning from home, Dorothy discovers that she is back in the Land of Oz, and finds the Yellow Brick Road as a pile of rubble, and the Emerald City is in ruins. Discovering that the magical land is now under the control of an evil empire, Dorothy sets off to rescue the Land of Oz with her old friends, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman and the Cowardly Lion with the help of her new friends, Billina, Jack Pumpkinhead, the Gump, and Tiktok along with Glinda the Good to defeat Queen Roquat.
