After escaping a lethal war in her home land, Karraria, Skylar gets taken in as hostage by one of the Gyrenees -shape shifting monsters- named Jordan, in a Gyrenee village called Gypren. What they soon find out is that he is Skylar's Link. An everlasting match made by one of the five gods every 200 years.
Being forced out of Gypren from a guerrilla attack from the humans, Skylar and Jordan flee into the Open and journey toward the Kingdom of Jano where society is mixed, Human and Gyrenee. There, they continue the journey to find what it truly means to be a Link and they form a romance outlawed in all of everywhere. The only thing they need to make it through is Forbidden Hope.
