Lidstvo čelí nebezpečí z vlastních řad - neznámému organismu napodobujícímu lidi. Všechno to začalo při průzkumných expedicích na Mars roku 2028. Ačkoliv to posádka Harbingeru netušila, donesli si s sebou jednoho pasažéra navíc. Černý pasažér brzy začal nabývat podoby jednoho člena posádky. Brzy zbylo jen ono stvoření. Po přistání zpět na Zem 12. června 2028 bylo spousta teorií, proč posádka krom jednoho člena zmizela. Brzy se zjistilo, že desetičlenná posádka nezmizela, našlo se všech 10 těl, každé znetvořené natolik, že jediný způsob identifikace byla forenzní stomatologie. Těla byla pohřbena, ale záhadný jedenáctý pasažér nebyl nikdy nalezen.
