When his little sister is kidnapped at the tender age of three, 7-year old orphaned Nicolas Beauchene makes it his mission to find her. Too young, adopted into a new home, and having no clue how to find her, it's 10 years before he build up enough knowledge and gall to go searching for her. Joined by his childhood friend Melody Schellpfeffer, their search takes them though the state and beyond, but not without some oddities turning up.

For some reason, Melody starts acting strange, and the people they meet along the way have a peculiar interest in her, and they come to discover something about her that explains why his sister's gone missing; and possibly where to find her, but at the risk of Melody being taken herself.
