Kane has had enough. The strict life style of the boys home in which he had grown up is a grand horror show. The 1950's are no place for state housing of any sort. With no option, Kane decides to flee the grounds. The journey leaves him tired and weak, and with no hope of finding a way out of the forest he has entangled himself in. This is where he meets Gean Horlemeau. She lives with her extensive family, roaming from town to town and pick pocketing to keep food on the table. Or, the dashboard of their pickup. Gean helps hide Kane in his run from the State, but along the ride he finds that Horlemeau's are a family of strange beliefs.

None of it makes sense - vampires and werewolves are supposed to be mortal enemies, so why does Kieran find Mason so irresistible? He knows that each kiss is dangerous, each bite is unpredictable...
