The Aerithians, a race chosen for the sky. Born with wings and many other abilities to better aid them in their domain.
The Mermaids, a race chosen for the water. Born with tails, and water breathing abilities.
Two very, very different peoples.
Stereotypically, they'd avoid eachother. Hate eachother. War would break out, and then peace, and then war again, then a treaty, then the two races would just sit a glare and hiss at eachother. And then two would fall in love, and Little Mermaid their way to a happy ending.
This isn't how it works. Yes, there are those in each group who hate the other group with a burning passion. There are those who forbid their children from seeing the other, or have done their best to start wars. But the majority are very sensible, and treat everyone else as another intellectual and another friend.
These two races are very much at peace.
But the humans disagree. For some reason, the humans cannot believe that these two completely different races could be so at peace! So, being the unbelievably stupid idiots that they are, they try to end it.
(Note: This is the old version. It is preferable if you read the current/new version.)
For all their life, J. Pappas has been a reader and a writer. They have written about many things - cats, owls, humans, and dragons; they've read stories about distant futures, fantastic worlds, and epic adventures.
But now a new genre of literature has arisen - "woke" literature. This type of literature has erased the memories of those old stories that J. and past generation loved to read, infecting those who read it with ideologies than wonder. And worse, the next generation is being exposed to its horrors.
J. had to do something to combat this. And so, they wrote and wrote and wrote. Story after story after story. Many weren't working, but one stayed in their head.
This is that story - a distant planet that mimics our times, but it not ruled by humans. It is ruled by dragons, and humans are the aliens of that planet.
