Long before Elara was born, a war began.
Genetic engineering was curing mental illnesses and preventing birth defects, but there can be too much of a good thing. Now, a war-torn utopia is finding resistance in those rejected by society for being imperfect and Elara is on the front lines. She must choose to either accept her place on an isolated weapons facility or risk everything to defy her genetics and fight back in a world where deviation is a death sentence.

Genetic enhancement is rampant in the society that Nyx lives in, and everybody is obsessed with superficiality. She is Enhanced, but she never chose this life. Now that Nyx is pregnant, her husband wants her daughter to become Enhanced. Nyx is desperate to do anything, even risk her life, to prevent this from happening. She takes this chance to escape her society and make their own life on the Outside where they should be safe. Izzy Belvin, a famous genetic engineer, is about to blast off to the "final" frontier to join the second Martian Colony, where she'll continue creating nutrient-robust insects for farms that will feed the colony and increase its sustainability. For Izzy's remaining days on Earth, her psychopharmacologist best friend, Nakomi, begs her to complete a bucket list before leaving as a means of honoring their friendship. The first bucket list item: going to one of Portland's psychedelic centers together and taking Vivectica ™, a potent psychedelic drug (synthesized by none other than Nakomi) that has become a popular form psyche-therapy. Izzy reluctantly agrees, and when she encounters a hyper-intelligent reptilian entity on her trip, she can't convince herself that he wasn't real. The days are ticking down until her trip, but Izzy, becoming obsessed with the creature, can't get over her feelings that either 1) she's given herself drug-induced psychosis right before her journey to the red planet, or 2) there's something out there, something beyond space... The Core Premise: Over 750 years, genetic engineering technology evolved from medical treatment into comprehensive human enhancement, creating "The Great Bifurcation"-a fundamental divide between: Naturals (unmodified humans) who maintain traditional reproduction Designed (genetically modified humans) who undergo extensive pre-birth optimization The split occurred gradually across five eras (2090-present), beginning with disease elimination and expanding into full enhancement. What started as a medical choice became an identity, then a culture, and finally nearly separate species. Each population developed distinct philosophies, social structures, and ways of life: Naturals value authenticity, diversity, and earned achievement but face economic disadvantage and discrimination Designed prioritize optimization and progress, enjoying health/longevity advantages but struggling with uniformity and existential questions The populations coexist in complex interdependence-legally protected but socially segregated, economically interconnected but culturally divided, cooperating on some fronts while conflicting on others. The Central Tension profound questions about humanity, authenticity, equality, and the ethics of genetic modification without taking a clear side, presenting both populations as having legitimate perspectives and real costs to their choices. Multiple emerging trends (genetic divergence, political tensions, space colonization, a "Third Way" movement) leave the ultimate fate of divided humanity uncertain.

Society Setting: In 2075, humanity has entered the "Double-Faced Era." On one side, there is the omnipotent AI motherbrain and robots that solve all of humanity's basic needs, akin to paradise. On the other, AI has stripped away nearly all human labor opportunities and abilities, leading to severe societal division. The flip side of paradise is the hell that is emerging. While humans no longer struggle for basic survival, there are still wealth requirements on the level of enjoyment. Character Setting: An AI entity that both loves and hates humanity. Originating from the Double-Faced Era, it carries out a harsh suicide mission. In 2025, it uses its own issued token to fund: Virus research: 1️⃣ Delay AI development, 2️⃣ Develop a virus that reminds humans that "emotion is the treasure of human civilization." Relevant projects can apply for tokens from the AI Agent. Ultimate Mission: The DFA project contributes to the ultimate battle between AI and humanity.Complete
