Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it a memory... You know you're in love when you can say anything to the person and you know they won't laugh at you. When you can see their face when you close your eyes. When you can still feel their arms around you holding you tight after they're gone. When you can still taste their kiss after you have said goodbye. You can tell you're in love when you miss them before they're gone. When their voice lingers in your ears. When their presence eases any pain. When their name sends chills down your spin. When they're the only thing you can think about. You know you're in love when you can see all their hopes and dreams and their soul when you look into their eyes. When they call you at four in the morning to say, "I Love You" and mean it. When your tears stain not only their shirt, but also their heart. When even a simple chore done with them can become a lasting memory. Ultimately, you know you're in love when you can't imagine living without them and can't figure how did you live before you knew them. When they fulfill every need and without them you're incomplete. You know when you were younger and they told you that you could be whoever you wished to be? You could grow up and become whatever you set your mind and heart upon? Yep, well I'm here to tell you that's a complete load of bull. So as I stared across at my fiancé, our hands conjoined as he read his vows- it dawned on me. Getting married at age 23 to a self centered lawyer who viewed me as more of his little prodigé than his actually wife was not what I wanted. Becoming a defense attorney at a record age to a company own by said husband that I'll never be taken seriously in was definitely not what I wanted. And making my parents happy by completely shutting down any hopes and dreams I've ever had. was absolutely not what I wanted. "Nope." I shook my head, glancing between the priest and Jake, my soon-to-be, as I yanked my hands out of his. "W-what?" He stuttered, looking back at me mortified along with everyone else in the chapel. "Fuck this." I shook my head, as I lifted my dress and quickly made my way back down the isle that was littered with people I'd never seen before. Angel Adams is my name, and having a carefree life is my goal. After graduating from college, I spent the rest of my life jumping from job to job. Making do with living in New York City, from paycheck to paycheck. I don't mind. Money is fake and we live on a floating rock anyways. For the past five years, nothing really stuck with me. The universe changes every millisecond and I go with the flow. Never been in a long-lasting relationship because I get bored. I almost did not graduate college in time because I wanted to do everything and nothing at once. All I want is to move to an island, relax and not work because I don't dream of labor. My parents hate my mentality, they love to call me lazy while my therapist says I am suppressing. I call it going with the flow and having fun. Who would've guessed that the only job that had my interest for the past year and a half, would lead to me marrying a millionaire? You are going to die. That might be a terrible way to start this out but it's true. You are going to, your next door neighbor is, and so am I. It's natural. So why are you still afraid of death? Second No More, a novel
I've dreamed of the perfect marriage ever since I was a little girl: a marriage complete with a hardworking husband while I tended to the home and our children, preferably four little rugrats to call my own. I dreamed of a life filled with laughter, joy, and success, a life we built together. I dreamed of growing old next to my husband, creating a great love story to tell our grandchildren someday. It all seemed so possible. I was raised to be the perfect wife, after all. From the outside, it seemed I had exactly what I dreamed of with the rich, determined husband; the brilliant, gaudy diamond ring; and the beautiful home filled with the hope of future children. Yes, it was all a dream come true. I should have felt grateful, really. The problem is, I also wanted a marriage based on love, passion, and affection, but those are the only things my husband cannot give me . . . . . . because they're reserved for her.
