ireine davenport has never been one to make friends very easily. that's why when she gets a very attractive man's number after she bumps into him on the streets of los angeles, she is overjoyed. she is further shocked when she finds out the man is internet famous; he is a youtuber with a channel called markiplier. they begin to become closer and have a deep trust in one another.

but mark knows more about ireine than she knows about herself; her long forgotten past, to be more specific. he will do anything to keep her in the dark about who he used to be, but when a mysterious, echoey voice begins to speak to her in her dreams, slipping whispers of her past into her mind, mark's plan becomes a little more complicated.
