People have often told me that I am charismatic and clever. Many say I'm prideful while some tell me I am arrogant. A cluster of people claim that I am kind and some go as far to call me generous. While all of these can argued upon, I have one trait that will never be questioned again; I do not like owing people debts. I absolutely detest it. I will repay someone's service. Even if that means lying to my crew, abandoning my ship, joining a traveling show, sneaking into a palace, sneaking out of said palace, literally traveling across the entire country of Spain, accidentally discovering that I was in love, and almost dying several times in the process, I will repay the debt I owe.

My whole life I dedicated to discovering the secrets of the ocean, but when one day I encounter a merman I think I might be losing my mind. Except it's real and he's asking me out. Spilling all his secrets. Sating my curiosity and stirring my lust. My own private nerdy professor turned merman, he ticks all my boxes. What do I do when my merman is in danger of discovery from my colleagues? Do I turn my back on them and help him? Do I sink or swim? Do I fall in love? This is a short prequel story for my other story Hook, Line & Sinking. This story can be read stand alone and you don't need to read this story to understand Hook, it's simply a bonus. ;-)
