Suppose as a military commander, you had a weapon that could disable an enemy at range, without warning, and that he could not defend against. Would you choose not to use it? Suppose that weapon, was intelligent and self-directed. Would you allow it to wonder where it wanted to? We follow an ordinary man snatched from an ordinary life as a technician and placed into an unfamiliar body with the seemingly magical ability to make others feel what he feels. This works both ways, and they have no control over it yet. They were created to be a weapon, some see him as the perfect assassin, some as the perfect spy, and others as an excuse or justification for their own plans. Four factions seek to control him and none of them are talking to him.

And considered the following: Would a machine entity recognize the distinction between itself and biological life - if it could replicate thought and action?
