A/N: This story contains a lot of mature ideas. Alcohol will be portrayed alot as well as drug use and sex. This book is intended for mature audiences only who are over the age of 18. You have been warned. The past twenty years of my existence could be summed up into one word. Subpar. If anything it could be summed up into several different words: subpar, ordinary, drab, and a plethora of others. You see for as long as I knew I was never the girl with abounding luck on my side. I was never the girl who could rely on her looks to get her through life, nor was I the girl with an inheritance waiting to kick in so I could finally start 'living.' I grew up understanding that sometimes no matter how hard you try, you never get everything you want. I woke up every day and continued living my subpar life and for years I was okay with doing just that. I went to high school, graduated with honors, got into college on scholarship, and studied for a career that was going to take me years to get a degree for. In all senses of the word, I was content. However, content is not a word that belongs with living and it does not pair well with the word life either. I woke up one day at twenty years old and decided to change everything. I flipped my life upside down. I became the girl who took risks. I became the girl who lived to be wild. I became the girl who would not let a soul stop her. I became the opposite of my previously subpar life. Before I knew it I was changing everything in my life. All it took was one night and four people to show me that everything I wanted was waiting for me to take it. ------ "You play things safe." he took a long drag of the blunt. My eyes flickered to his lips and the smoke tumbling out of them. His eyes danced over to mine and I forgot how to breath when his lips curved upward into a smirk. *Extended in Fast Forward

""Kitten, you're worried about something, and you cannae lie. You're picking at your hands and looking around to clean up my room. Unlucky for you, my room is very clean," he said, "Now what are you worrying about so much?" I stopped picking at my cuticles. It was kind of weird that he could see me doing something and read me like a book before I could even realize I was doing it. I felt my heart pound in my chest. "Well, it's just this whole pretending to date you thing," I shrugged, "How far do we have to take it? Do we have to do it in front of our friends? Do we have to do it in public because obviously we ran into Olivia today and we weren't planning on it. Oh shit, what if she sees you with another girl? I mean, what would happen then? What if she sees me talking to another guy? How long is this going to go on? What if we have to kiss in front of Olivia? I mean, it's not that I don't want to kiss you but--" I rambled on nervously. Iain smirked and walked towards me, and the next thing I knew, his lips were on mine, and we were kissing." When Kit's older brother, Ben, finally makes it with the girl he's been crushing on for four years, only to find out she's wary of family, he lies and calls his baby sister his best friend's girlfriend, turning everyone's life upside down. While Kit's struggling with the impending doom of college and parents that could divorce at any second, she's also juggling a fake relationship with her brother's hot best friend, Iain. As if that weren't complicated enough, a chemistry sparks between Iain, igniting flames and destroying the crumbling world around them. RATED M for drug and alcohol use and sexual themes
