Though unique, Alice Roberts' skin condition was often the subject of ridicule. After 23 years of living on the dirty streets of London, she's found by the Earl of Phantomhive and his dying butler. The earl gives her a position as part of the manor's staff, where she sees the butler's condition up close. In order to save her new friend from a miserable end, she makes a contract with him, giving up her soul, and becoming his savior.
