Even though not many people believe in them anymore, Soulmates ARE most definitely real. When you turn 18, a tattoo like pendant will appear somewhere on your body and it is up to you to find the person with the matching pendant, your soulmate. Demi Ross is a 17, almost 18, year old who is more than nervous to receive her pendant. One, because it hurts like hell, and two, because she's actually afraid to find out who her soulmate is, unlike most teens. Demi is a quiet and shy girl who keeps to herself and doesn't have much of a social life, yet of course everyone changes eventually. Even though she would've never wanted what was to come, you can't change your fate. Oliver Faul is an 18 year old boy, the bad boy of the school, and Demi's alleged soulmate. The two would always cross paths, but never dare to look each other in the eye or even start the slightest of conversations. Oliver has his pendant on his wrist and is on the lookout for his match, eager to see who he was meant to be with for the rest of his life. The two teens meet soon after Demi gets her pendant, but when she finds out that Oliver is her soulmate, she does everything she can to try and hide the mark for the simple fact that she has the wrong idea about Oliver. Yet, fate will never change and secrets won't hide forever.

She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights.
