There is a small coastal village in the Never Province, approximately four hundred miles away from Never's City. The village is on the edge of the sea, trapped between its waves and the deep forest nearby. The locals know not to wander inside, for if you do, you may fall victim to the creatures that live within...
Adelaide is visiting her aunt and uncle. One of the first things she learns is this: Stay away from the Unfamiliar. Adelaide is good at doing what she's told. She's practiced doing it her whole life.
Something inside her just can't stay away, and she doesn't understand why.
(Be warned that this story will contain elements that may be triggering to some people. This includes hints/mentions of emotionally abusive family members, brief violence/mention of injury, death (nothing graphic), and blood.
