    Things with the Scarlet Guard are going smoothly, as everyone starts to trust the Traitor Prince, Cal.  
    
    Mare however, is conflicted when Maven sends her a threatening letter with a body of a baby attached onto it. Pressure doesn't mix well with lightning. It only gets worse when she starts to lose control of her thoughts, fearing that every passing second will mean another child will die in the hands of Maven's cruel hands. 
    
    The next few days leaves her questioning about everything, leaving her to doubt what to think. 
    
    But when a newblood, a vengeful brother, a strange mutation, an ill family member and a compelling heirloom orchestrates a story that leaves Mare to decide her future,  what will she do?
