Jacob Terris is haunted by the memories of the Domain War, and most of all, his former love, Penelope. Even though the war is over and he's perfectly safe, he can't sleep at night and when he does, nightmares wake him up. He's given a chance at a new start when he meets Elizabeth May, a beautiful girl who was shielded from the Domain War and knows nothing of it. As much as Jacob wants to love her, he's afraid he can't let go of the feelings he still has for Penelope, even though she's gone. This futuristic fantasy fairytale is all from Jacob's point of view. Some chapters will be of his current life, others of his past, during the War. (Be sure to pay attention in the chapter title to whether it is present or flashback)

Claire is a quiet, thoughtful girl with a heart full of questions she's never dared to ask out loud. By day, she blends into the background-just another face in the crowded halls of her high school. But every night, everything changes. When she closes her eyes, she enters a dream world that feels more real than anything she's ever known. In her dreams, there's him. A boy with a warm smile and eyes that seem to understand every hidden piece of her. They're inseparable in that world-laughing through lunch breaks, walking the halls of a school that doesn't exist, and sharing moments that feel heartbreakingly real. In the dreams, they're together, like they've known each other forever. But every morning, Claire wakes up alone, the memories of him fading like mist. She doesn't know who he is or why he feels so familiar, but with every night that passes, the connection grows stronger-and so does her fear that she'll never find him in the real world.
