At Midnight

I am panting as he has me pushed against the dark walls of the building. My back aching from the impact from his sheer force against the brick.

"You will never be one of us."

Something inside of me changed. A deep, burning sensation down to my very core as rage started to come up from the depth of my soul. I pushed against Calix with every single fiber of my being, causing him to stumble and fall on the ground. My ears were burning hot and my gums had a slight taste of blood. My vision was a multitude better than what it has ever been as I stared down at this gang leader bully. All my life I had this amazing gift of being two powerful creatures into one, only one person has ever possessed that gift, my mother. I am tired of hiding my true identity and today that stops.

"You're right, I'm not one of you. I am a Hemiblood, and Queen of the Lycanthropes, and the Vampires, bow before me." I said without ever breaking eye contact.

Maverick thought her life couldn't have gotten any worse. Her drug addict mother overdosed, her dad left her and her three siblings behind to be on their own, and now she has to move all the way across the country to live with their aunt who specializes in experiments in Washington whom they have never met, what could go wrong?

Calix is a leader of a Werewolf gang you don't want to run into. His charming smile and shiny green eyes is enough to melt your stone heart. He has a bad reputation in town, will he get Maverick to join his group of thieves and drug dealers?

Will Maverick find out who her mother actually was and what her fate is? Or should she join the Werewolf gang and start a new life for herself? The choice is to be chosen, but time is running out. She has to make a decision at midnight.
