Decades ago there were Hunters, people who inherited an ancient power gifted by the gods and who protected the world from the nightmarish creatures known as Reapers. But when the Anarchy Wars tore through the world creating fear and desperation, the world turned against Hunters and, one by one, their powers disappeared.

Until now.

Kaya Nebrae has been born with a Legacy, the same power Hunters once wielded. But while Reapers still stalk the streets, Kaya has no intention of using her power to fight them. She doesn't want to protect the world, and she certainly doesn't want the world to know she exists.

So Kaya has carved a different life for herself, keeping her head down and her knives sharp, but when one of her jobs goes wrong Kaya will be thrown onto a new path, one that will force her to confront her fate - and the growing shadow that stalks her.

Aries Bristol is a bounty hunter. The best of the best, most terrifying, and she's a woman, frowned upon by all. "Women shouldn't fight," they say, on and on. "Women shouldn't get their hands dirty." "Women are weak." "Women are powerless." "Women are toys, puppets, made to look at and enjoy." They thought they were geniuses. Adding to her misery. She proved them wrong. And she always will. ●●●●● When she is called upon by an Aristocrat, Aries is hired to find a Demhi---a person---a race--- that is immortal. But she knows they don't exist anymore. They didn't die, no, they disappeared. As if they never existed. ...Didn't they? So, of course, she finds this bounty dumb... until she is paid one hundred thousand for the job, enough to sustain her for life... As she goes on her mission, she defeats many people, from drunken thugs to gang leaders. She also gets visons, dreams, and prompting from her Patron goddess, Thana, the goddess of death. As she is fulfilling her job, she meets a man. A very enigmatic figure, one she comes to know as he confronts her and travels alongside her. As they travel together, they bond, becoming good friends...or more. They unveil a path of dark secrets... some connected to their pasts. In the midst of all this, Aries deals with depression, suffering from past traumas, as well as realizing her growing feelings for this man. As the novel escalates, Aries needs to find comfort in her own skin and not to live in the past, as well as differ good from evil. WARNING: Rated mature for suicidal thoughts, self harm (mentioned), and depression. No explicit adult content, though very small mentions of r4p3 (mentioned once, never described, nor pressed).

**MATURE CONTENT & COMPLETED** A smart-mouthed 25 year old girl looks normal, yet is anything but that. She's a highly skilled hunter who trained day and night to live up to her legacy. Her parents were open in revealing her destiny of being born into a long line of vampire hunters. Except she doesn't follow all of the Hunter traditions as she wants to pave her own way. Finally, when she is of age to go on assignments alone, she takes her first big assignment. It has the ability to change every aspect of her life and even makes her question her beliefs: one of which being that love does not exist. Not only does this assignment make her re-evaluate everything she's ever known, the vampires her family has taught her to avoid at all costs somehow manage to become her biggest threat. Their only two purposes are to find the right time to strike and kill the very thing that threatens their way of life: her. All the while battling real-life demons... she struggles with her own.
