Carliene Westing is a serious person. Naturally, when a crimson letter pops at her doorstep and a childhood friend calls with an exact date of her demise, Carliene takes the matter very seriously. But in Merrysbrook nothing's really merry. Corpses keep popping up and every clue points to a serial killer from the past. Could He have really come back for her?
Despite a complicated and rather uneasy past, Georgina Bavory won't let Carliene go alone. She'll tag along if only to make sure the girl won't let that monster get away again. But their past differences lose significance in the face of danger. The threat lurks closer than they thought. Staying at the Mortimore Manor might not have been such a good idea. The place has its own skeletons in the closet, and Georgina promised to dig them all up.
Passions run raging hot with rich bad boys in near proximity. Broken hearts, unkept promises, shattered friendships. The girls face them all. Memories resurface. Able to count on themselves only, with a plethora of questions and very few answers, they will have to face, once and for all, the truth of what really had happened a year ago.
