When the universe is in the hands of Zarkon, five paladin of Voltron will rise up and fight against the evil warlord. They will soon discover another legendary defender of the universe; one that has been forgotten for decades, everyone thought had been destroyed by Zarkon long ago but has been brought back to life. Electra.

Matthew Holt along with his father and Takashi "Shiro" Shirogane get captured by the Galra Empire. Tortured and ill-treated, Shiro escapes from the Galra and heads back to Earth where runs into more danger the following year after he was kidnapped.

Meanwhile at Galaxy Garrison, a few students crashed the simulator and experience the rescue of Shiro. Their names were Lance McCain, Pidge/Katie Holt, Hunk, Harmony Carlisle, Paige Rivera, Camila Lopez, Sarah Jones, and Amber Rose (a former prisoner of the Galra now freed) meet a dropout of Garrison, Keith Kogane and Shiro.

They all soon come across the Blue Lion of Voltron and the Turquoise Cheetah of Electra that lead them to a planet that is very far from their home planet Earth. Arus where it has the last two surviving Alteans Allura and Coran.
