For as long as anyone can remember, humans have always been obsessed with love. Love, trust, safety, security. Companionship. Philosophers young and old from the present to centuries ago pondered why so many of us seek such an unconditional and deep attachment to another. While monogamy has proven not to work for everyone and some enjoy their polyamorous relationships, there are still many who enjoy the thought of having their one and only.

Many with the motto: "While no one is completely different, no one is exactly the same." We can even return to Plato's Symposium, where Socrates discusses how the Greek Titan Prometheus made humans out of mud and asked Athena to breathe life into them. Socrates goes onto say that humans originally came in twos, with round bodies and heads mended together back to back. They had two arms and two legs each. Double was their might and speed. They came in three sexes: men, women, and man and woman.

It wasn't the humans began to rise against the Gods, tired of being used as sacrifices, were separated by Zeus, and had the sexes rearrange in the image of Gods. He had them adjusted accordingly so that men and women could marry and reproduce together to build their own families. This mechanism for a long time kept humans happy and they returned to worshiping the Gods once more.

Because of this particular origin, however, it is said that people who are searching for their soulmate are really searching for their other half.

People always say every life should be cherished. That every single one of them is equally fragile and precious. Like a beautiful glass sculpture or the blossoming flowers in spring. But the thing is, everyone's definition of beautiful is different. Some people prefer roses over orchids. Some of them like sculptures of people whereas others like sculptures of animals. And so there are times when even the most beautiful sculpture gets thrown away like trash or forgotten somewhere because they found one that's prettier. The beautiful flowers that bloomed in spring will wither away and eventually become nothing but dust. There are times when a sculpture in itself could be really beautiful but a tiny flaw will make people deem it as a "mistake". The flowers that are left to wither away just because they miss a leave, or because they aren't the right size or the right colour. So you see that saying about every life being equally precious?, yeah that only counts for the "perfect" ones. Still some of these faulty sculptures and broken flowers managed to make it into the world. They would be facing the harsh reality of this world and would have to fight to survive. Some of them would unfortunately lose this fight in the end, leaving to a faraway place in hopes to find peace and quiet. Still just being able to make it this far in this harsh world is something to be proud of, as friends and family will forever remember these brave individuals who fought hard to survive until the very end. - Kaylee de Leeuw

1,000 years ago, there was a great war between all the countries and nobody, not even the citizens of said country could be trusted. It was the cruelest of all the wars and you could even say that because of it everything was lost to each's arrogance. Out from the rubble of the devastation one person came forward and with their words brought together 9 people. As a collective, they were the light during such dark times and with their knowledge in multiple fields they were able to make a new standing government, one that united the people. It consisted of the ruler known as The Divine, The Counselor of Security, The Counselor of Agriculture, The Counselor of Technology, The Counselor of Education, The Counselor of History, The Counselor of Ecology, The Counselor of Health, The Counselor of Religion, and The Counselor of Economy. Together they were able to rebuild everything and although they had to restart, they never gave up and pushed forward, making the society we know now. As years went by, they got older and decided every 60 years all who turn 18 that year will have to take an exam. Then depending on their knowledge of a certain topic, they will be put into classes and be monitored for 5 years while learning the field of their choosing. With a special section for The Divine, for they had to take all the courses. The only catch would be once you had chosen what you would be studying, you could no longer change it. Anyone could take the places, gender and sexuality were not an issue. When the 5 years are up, 2 students with the highest grades from each section will be chosen, except in the case of The Divine. The work load to support an entire country can be hard on one person so that is why they had chosen to pick two people so that the work was divided, they were on equal footings. This year was when the new candidates were being chosen and it was during my lifetime. Will Mia be able to get through her hardships in one piece or will it be a walk in the park?!

You should be advised that nothing about my life is going to make any sense. Sorry, but that is just the cold, horrifying, acid trip horror show that is my life. So without hesitation, I'm just going to lay it all out for you and let you decide what to do from there. Strange Fact #1: I was found naked in a cave when I was less than a week old in the summer of 1629. I should also let you know that I stopped aging at the age of twenty five. So, I have currently been twenty five years old for four hundred and two years, with no sign of ever changing. I don't know why. I don't know how. Acid trip horror show... Strange Fact #2: I can't be killed. I mean, I'm sure I could be killed if someone really put their heart into it, but I have been burned alive, ran over, shot in the chest, stabbed through the heart and fallen off the edge of a cliff, and I've walked away completely fine every time. It hurt, obviously, but in minutes I was back to normal. Strange Fact #3: I'm not alone.
