Asteria Halloway finally had an explanation for her parents as to why she didn't fit in no matter how hard she tried. 

She was a witch. 

However, this did not make anything better. If anything, Asteria's life began to spiral out of control. 
Her parents feared her magic - troubled by their daughter's powers. Not only that, but the young muggle born girl would soon be sorted into the pureblood supremacist Slytherin House. Here, she would face discrimination day after day, year after year.

The start of their fifth year at Hogwarts brings with it terrible circumstance. Sirius and Asteria must go behind each other's backs and use the other for their own personal gain. Remus works at the Ministry of Magic and comes to visit Sirius once in a while. Olivia, the main character, grew up half with Bellatrix and half with Sirius, but only in the present time he could win the battle with Bellatrix and send Olivia to Hogwarts.
