This is a short story that was born of a writing prompt:

Your best friend since childhood seeks professional help for serious mental problems. Much to your dismay, as she begins to improve, you slowly start to realize that you are her imaginary friend...

This is how Tim finds out the truth, that he was born of Lacy's imagination. Remember, I'm a romance writer, so it was difficult not to toss in a little bit of that feel.
