At first, the sleepy town of Hawkins assumes that little Laura has been abducted, but as the neighbourhood's teens - Joyce, Jim, Bob and Karen, find themselves stumbling down a dark hole of mysteries, they realise that an abduction would be easier to explain...
The more they investigate, the more they realise that knowing too much could make you forget.
