A lone man and a slave woman fight their way for survival in the river country of Bengal, a haven of spice, muslin and salt where the Great Mughal Empire could not have its stronghold and half of Europe competes to get its share of unimaginable plunder. Amidst this grand theater of religion and trade conquest, where padres and pirates cross paths with faithless bandits and sufi poets, a great river flows into world's largest delta and a wilderness unknown to civilization. As conch shells blow in Bengal's villages and lamps lit up in homesteads, both raiders and raided do not know where the winds of time will blow them into.

Leaving back her past with her lover who she knew would never be able to marry her due to societal barriers, she shrugs into the fire of life with Ashwik Agarwal, a man she knew nothing of. Her life turned upside down when Kanak found herself in a loveless marriage torn between her heart that craved love and her mind that was strict with the principles of life. But is that all she has to offer? Is that the only value she can give away to life, by being the responsible woman of the house? To become yet another nameless woman swallowed by tradition? Through Kanak's eyes, 'Majboor: Na Hum Na Tum' explores the invisible chains of post-independence India where freedom was won, but true liberation was yet to come. #1 in Partition - 09/02/25
