Hello and welcome to the Poets Pub's poetry style challenges.  Each month we will be challenging our members to write poetry in a new style.  Have you ever written a sonnet, limerick, haiku, or BLITZ poem?  Well now is your chance to exercise your poetic muscles and try new poetic styles.  This will be a monthly challenge only not contest.  We hope this will be a fun and challenging way to learn more about the way poetry is written. All I'm saying is I'm no slouch. I'm not brilliant either. But I've got some experience around what can catch an agent, editor, or judge's eye, and I'd like to share that with the community. ☙ - In another lifetime, I used to work for HBO in Development and at ICM (the talent agency) in their writers' department which means I understand how professionals quickly gauge whether or not they'll take a closer look at a work and/or make an offer. This kind of insight can be helpful if you're planning to submit your work or even just want to stand out more here on Wattpad. ☙ - I used to provide critiques for three writers, all of them traditionally published. They seemed to value my insight. Read the RULES, LOGISTICS & PRIZES chapter for guidelines. All entries get a brief assessment of their first chapter, with winners getting more extensive critiques. Sound interesting? Give it a go! 😊

Alice in Wonderland Impossible Thoughts. by newpoet

This is a collection of poems with the construction of "six lines . " They were written daily during my summer of 2012/13 ( southern hemisphere ) when I was first participating on wattpad as a regular. I posted six poems everyday with a crazy challenge of writing a ridicules number of poems over a short period of time. All the poems are inspired by the Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland one of the first books I read as a young person, in fact as a teen. Before the age of 12 years my reading skills where non-existent because of learning difficulties, so when I finally did read a whole book right through Alice was it. So Alice hold's a special place in my heart and soul because of this fact. I hope you enjoy the reading of this failed collection as I do not think I have actually finished this challenge. If someone out there would like to count and let me know, please. How many more poems do I need to write?

Everyday, for 365 days - also known as a year, I will post a poem. Haikus, free verse, sonnets, villanelles and more. They might not be the best, but, then again, I'm not to be the best. I'm simply trying to learn a new craft and express myself.

The Suggestion Box, Vol. 4: A to Z Challenge by KartheyM

Back in June, I decided to take the "A to Z Challenge", which usually involves writing something centered around one word corresponding to each letter of the alphabet. It being a short story challenge, occurring weekly, I decided to "up the ante" to incorporate the rules of a Suggestion Box list (Name, Place, Time, and Object) and turn it into the next iteration of this series! Forthwith, I went through every letter of the alphabet and tried to look back over any previous story that I'd written (except the fanfiction) to find characters whose names began with each letter. Most of the time, I could find a character from a previous Suggestion Box installment (so be sure and check out the referred "original stories", always noted at the beginning of the tale!) but I also took the opportunity to use characters from other unfinished novels, and even a few opportunities for tie-in stories to my published novella, "Princess of Undersea."
