Her greatest test is yet to come...

In their final year of high school, all children must take The Test. They cannot prepare for it, do not know what it involves. They don't even know it is a test. None of the previous years have ever come back to talk about it.

Each child, boy or girl, is ushered into a white room with no other furniture than a white chair and white table. They are asked questions meant to test their intelligence by a recorded machine but given no time limit. The ones that pass are elevated into higher levels of education; the ones who don't are thrown out on the streets and left to die.

This is the story of one girl who failed The Test. Her time on the streets is not an easy one-her parents disowned her the moment they found out, and she has been on the run from the secret police almost from the minute she got there, but she doesn't know why.
She doesn't know that in reality, she did not fail the test.
She aced it.

Adeline wasn't planning on having a panic attack in the middle of a thunderstorm-but that's exactly how she met Leo. Head down, heart racing, soaking wet... and suddenly crashing into a stranger with calm eyes and steady hands. Leo's the last person anyone would expect to be soft. He's an FBI agent, used to chaos, and once had a reputation for being the guy who didn't stick around. But Adeline? She's sweet, sheltered, and the kind of girl who can light up a room without even trying. The second their paths crossed, he knew she was going to mean something. And she did... she meant everything. He didn't mean to fall for the girl who's scared of storms. She didn't plan on it, but she trusted him faster than anyone else. But when two messy hearts collide, sometimes the calm comes after the thunder. This isn't one of those over-the-top, cringy romances. There's no love triangle, no toxic drama, and no dragging things out with a million side characters. Just a good timeline, real connection, and all the wholesome moments we secretly dream about. Leo and Adeline are loyal, sweet, and actually communicate (shocking, I know). You'll laugh, smile, maybe cry - and you'll definitely wish you had a Leo of your own. If you're a reader who's tired of the recycled tropes, toxic drama, and characters who can't get their lives together? Same. I've been in the Wattpad trenches too, and that's exactly why I wrote this book. It's everything I wanted to read but couldn't find. So consider this your sign: you're about to find your new favorite. You're gonna fall for Leo and Adeline - I just know it. - Love, yours truly, DaddyMaddyy

"Hey, who are you?" I could tell he wasn't trying to scare him off while still trying to establish the fact that we could hurt him if we wanted to. "I was gonna ask you the same question," he replied. "But since to beat me to it, I'm Eli. I'm just a seventeen-year-old kid out here alone. Y'all seem to be in the same situation." His southern accent was thick but definitely not South Carolinian. It sounded more like he was from Alabama or Mississippi. "True. For how long?" "Four weeks. I ran away because of...circumstances," he said, trailing off on the last word. "Prove to us you're not dangerous," Marcus threatened. "Prove to me you're not dangerous," Eli countered. "I don't even know your names." "Fine. I'm Marcus, that's Peyton, Luke, and Aaliyah," he answered, gesturing toward each of us as he spoke. I could tell he didn't trust the guy, but he seemed good enough. He hadn't said anything to make us distrust him, but he also hadn't said anything to make us trust him. "Look, dude, I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm looking for something a friend told me about a few weeks ago. She said there was a whole network of teens out here, but there's a camp somewhere in Florida that gives them a place to stay. Secret, of course, and run by teens, but anyway, it seems safer than being out here and living off the land." "Wait, you mean there are more of us?" I asked. ☁ Three teenagers find themselves rejected by their families after they're all unexpectedly outed on the same night. With the help of their friend, they head to the streets in search of freedom and acceptance. Along the way they meet another boy, and there's more to him then they could have ever guessed. Follow each of them as they discover who they are, who they love, and more of their country's secrets than they could ever dream of in a thrilling trilogy told from all five points of view.
